When ever possible these gifts are created from used horseshoes, which helps the environment and aids recycling.

The shoes have been divided into the categories listed above for simplicity of viewing, this does not mean they cannot fulfil other requirements.  The Gothic horseshoes are a personal favourite of mine and I have been told make the perfect gift for anyone celebrating the completion of a divorce.  The Crystal horseshoes are decorated with crystals and semi-precious stones (some of which can be detached and worn on a chain as pendants)  A number of the stones have healing properties and can be used to  cleanse and energise your home.

If you cannot see the perfect horseshoe for your requirements, select a custom shoe.  You can specifically design this shoe incorporating your own ribbons, flowers or prepared with a shoe from a favourite horse.

History of Horseshoes

Horseshoes have long been considered as a symbol of luck, especially if they have actually been worn by a horse, every nail remaining in the shoe represents a year of good luck.  Why horseshoes are traditionally given to a bride is unclear.  However, the ancient Greek’s (back in the 4th Century) believed that their moonlike shape represented fertility.

The horseshoe became seen as a symbol of luck in the 10th Century when the Archbishop of Canterbury (St Dunstan; a blacksmith by trade) trapped the devil within a horseshoe.  Before releasing him, he made the devil promise never to enter any Christian home, which he would recognise by a horseshoe hanging over the door.  Traditionally a horseshoe is always held or hung with its heels pointing up to prevent the luck from draining out of it.
